The virtues you describe are valuable not only in government. The law firm where my husband was partner for many years conducted annual self-assessments; one comment someone made about my husband was: "Respects his partners." I was struck by this - partly because it was true about Bob, but also (sadly, I think) because it was unusual enough to mention.
